KORRELATION is an interactive light projection that transforms a portion of rue de l’Alzette into an abstract aquatic and scientific landscape that responds to the steps of passers-by. The work reveals the Alzette river that flows beneath street level, making visible the river that gives its name to the city of Esch-sur-Alzette.

The Alzette springs near Thil in France, crosses through Esch largely underground, before reaching Luxembourg City, Mersch, and Ettelbruck, where it flows into the Sûre, a tributary of the Moselle, which in turn feeds the Rhine, one of Europe’s backbone axis.

The Alzette connects the city and Luxembourg to the vast political, social and cultural network of Europe. KORRELATION gives this connection a tangible, playful and interactive form and reminds us that water is a precious resource and draws our attention to the close relationship between humans, nature and technology.
